Planning permission (search DC/16/2041 on the Planning Portal) has been approved by Horsham District Council to turn yet more office space into residential units. The two office blocks, namely Park House North and North Point, next to The Capitol Theatre and opposite Park House, are to be converted into about 130 residential units. The theatre raised reasonable objections on the grounds that the shared driveway will need to continue to be used to deliver and remove show related equipment. The often noisy removal can frequently occur at 01:00 to 02:00 in the middle of the night. Is it going to be the case that the future residents will be able to curtail this activity and therefore bang another nail in the theatre’s coffin? Two other ‘nails’ have gone into said coffin recently those being the planning permission granted to multi screen cinemas in Piries Place and Swan Walk.
